Dr Shaji with a degree in Ayurveda from Madras University is a practicing Ayurveda doctor and also conducts massages and ayurveda counciling in his Kalari.
The medicines used for treatment is prepared from herbs grown in the Kalari compound. Since the medicines are prepared in the Kalari itself, they are very effective.
Established in 1959 at Kaduthuruthy,a village in Central Kerala, erliar the name of the Kalari was CVN Kalari and now it has changed to EPV Kalari. The founder is Vasudeva Gurukkal; a scholar in Ayurveda.Preserving the centuries old tradition, Gurukkal has learnt various kinds of massages and has mixed them scientifically. His researching intelligence has led to many findings. Gurukkal is assisted by his son Dr Shaji.
